About Our Repeater

The RCARA maintains a 2-meter repeater under the callsign KG4DVE, on a frequency of 146.940(-) with a PL of 107.2Hz. The repeater is located on Tarpin Ridge in north-central Boyd County, KY with coverage across Boyd, Carter, & Greenup Counties in KY, Lawrence County in OH, and Wayne County in WV. The repeater is a Vertex VXR-7000 rated at 50 watts output.

Thanks to a generous donation by Kindred Communications of a Commscope DB-264 antenna, and multiple member contributions to purchase a reel of 7/8" hardline, we plan on moving the club's repeaters and packet nodes to the larger tower on site in the spring of 2021. If you wish to contribute towards these upgrades, contact Phillip Coffee KM4UCT at rcara.net@gmail.com to see how, or come to one of our club meetings.

The KG4DVE Repeater also has an AllStarLink/Echolink node, under node #496081 on AllStarLink, and node #975506 (KG4DVE-R) on Echolink. All users and direct-connected repeaters are invited to join us at any time. Information on connected nodes can be found through our Supermon panel at http://kg4dve.atcs.network/supermon/link.php?nodes=496081

NEW FEB 2022:
There is now an experimental DMR<->Analog bridge to the 146.940, using TG 3163157 (KG4DVE) on the Brandmeister Network. This TG is also available full-time on the KG4DVE DMR repeater.

Radio Nets

For over 40 years, the RCARA has hosted one of the longest running 2-meter nets, meeting Monday through Friday at 7:30PM on the KG4DVE repeater. In collaboration with the Portsmouth Radio Club, that tradition continues with a net running at 8:00PM Monday through Friday. The Tri-State 2 Meter Net meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while the Portsmouth Radio Club 2 Meter Net meets on Tuesday and Thursday, with Thursday being a Traders Night swapmeet net in addition to a casual net.

We use NetLogger to process check-ins to the net, which is free to use. You can download the software and view the log, or use it if you wish to be a Net Control Operator (NCO). Anyone is welcome to be an NCO, and can use the preamble listed above or create their own. If you wish to be a NCO, e-mail Mike at the info below.
